Object Analysis:
Object
presents as a North American retail Super Nintendo cartridge with a
typewritten label. The label is consistent in quality and appearance to
other examples believed to be samples produced internally at Nintendo.
The label indicates the game's title, its intended region, its product
code (SNS-K2), and its ROM revision (FINAL/NTSC/0.-/M). The 0 indicates
an internal numbering system designated as part of submitting a game for
final approval for manufacturing, but the significance of "M" is
unknown.
Inside is a PCB with part number SHVC-1J3M-11. This
is a part made for retail game manufacturing, and not for product
development, as is typically seen in a prototype or sample game. The
game's data is on an IC "mask ROM" chip, meaning it was pressed in a
factory, likely in a large quantity. The chip was manufactured in June
of 1994, which post-dates the game's North American debut of October 3,
1993. This appears to be a retail board for a printing of the game later
than its first.

The data is identical to the retail game.
Conclusion:
When
considering the authenticity of this item as a non-retail game created
at Nintendo, there are two oddities to consider: first, the fact that
its internal PCB appears to come from a retail game, and second, that
its date of creation is significantly later than its retail debut.
There
are other examples of samples like this using retail PCBs, so the first
oddity is a known and generally accepted one in the collector
community. As for the manufacturing date, one logical explanation comes
to mind: this sample may have been produced to support the game's
then-upcoming debut in European territories, which did not happen until
November of 1994, some six months after this chip was manufactured.
Given
the above, and especially given the appearance of the label, my opinion
is that this is likely an authentic non-retail sample of the game,
though I say this with some reservations.
